I don't cut my back and I put mine in the house to grow in the off season. It's time now to fertilize and start watering because it will take awhile for the fertilizer to take effect. Take off all the dead leaves they zap out the energy when the plant is trying to grow.
I have a hibiscus plant from last year. Do I cut back the plant and fertilize it when it gets warm outside?
You could clean it up(snip and shape) and fertilize it and have it in a warm window til things warm up. Don't know where you are, but some forms of hibiscus are survivors through a bit of a winter. Some are hardier and perennial in areas with a real winter.
Reply:There are DOZENS of web sites on horticulture, gardening etc. which can help you.
Reply:If it is pass the last freeze, it is best to trim the plant as soon as possible, also if you want to simulate new growth thru out the year you can trim it every few months without hurting the plant. Also, make sure you are using the correct fertilizer mix.
These plants really love liquid fertilizers and should be fertilized every 2-3 weeks during growing season.
Reply:Absolutely.
