How do I care for my Hibiscus?

2 years ago I planted a small Hibiscus and it seemed to do quite well. Last year some neighbor children pulled a good part of it out of the ground, but it has decided to come back this Spring. It is only about 5 inches tall but seems very healthy. What type of fertilizer is best to use on a Hibiscus and does it need any specific type of care?

most likely ur talking about the hardy type! just feed it a balanced fertilizer now and keep it moist throughout the growing season. the hardy hibiscus is also called "swamp rose".... so it loves to be wet!
Reply:We'd need more information. There are a number of species of hibiscus, including tropical ones (Hibiscus rosa-sinensis of Hawiian shirt fame) to very hardy ones (Hibiscus syriacus or Rose of Sharon).

It would also help to know what USDA zone you live in or what area you live in.

Without that information I can't give you any reliable advice other than they do like compost or other organic matter mixed in the with soil they are planted in and most like a lot of water.
Reply:hibiscus need moderate water and leave misting they like sun (full sun) they bloom best in warm climates....here in florida every house has some very popular in the warm climates
Reply:Either use ozmocote, a general all purpose fertilizer, or use a fertilizer that is for acid loving plants. I've had hibiscus for years and have rarely fertilized them. They get huge and flower almost all year anyway. I did mulch them very well a few years ago. One is at least 8 ft tall.
