Can I leave it out for the winter and how far do I need to cut it back. It stands about 4' tall and is quite thick.
I live in Georgia and have a Hibiscus Tree?
Trim it back and bring it inside. The cold weather will kill the tree.Trim the branches back to about one foot in length. Believe me, it will grow back. Don't forget to give it fertilizer around every 4-6 weeks. Home Depot or Lowe's can help you buy the correct type.
Reply:In warmer climates hibiscus do not have to be cut back. They only require cutting back if they are damaged by frost or likely to be damaged by frost. Report It
Reply:Hibiscus is a tropical plant and is very vulnerable to frost. I would take it in for the winter. I lived in San Diego, which is much warmer than Georgia, and I lost my hibiscus to frost one winter.
Reply:Plunk it in the ground. Water with Fertilome Root Stimulator. Cover if you think frost will get it. Is it a perennial or annual hibiscus? Prune it in the spring.
