How to get rid of white powder like pest on my hibiscus plants?

For powdery mildew you can spray your plants with a mixture of 1 part skim milk and 9 parts water.

I have been using this mix for several years and it took care of the problem for me on my phlox and roses.

I don't know why it wouldn't work on hibiscus too.

I would usually spray it on in the spring - about every third day for a couple of weeks and then once a month if you want, but try it now...it certainly can't hurt the plant.

The milk sure seems to strengthen them to fight off the fungi!

What you have are giant white fly and egg casings. You can kill them with a spray mixture of Palmolive dish soap (only the original green seems to work )and water. Use about 2 oz. soap per gallon of water . A hose end sprayer works best. Spray every 3 or 4 days for a couple of weeks. This will kill the adults but not the eggs. If you want to kill all at once use a chemical spray. Check with your local home center to see what's best for your area.
Reply:Mealy bugs? 3 in one spray available at HomeyD, Lowes, Wallyworld.
Reply:Buy a fungicide from your local nursery or Home Depot. Sounds like you have powdery mildew.
