ie how often do i water it? where should i keep it? how often should i feed it?
I live in England uk. i was wondering how best to care for my new hibiscus plant?
In very broad terms;
Hibiscus Muscheutos - Perennial and hardy to UK climate. Treat as for most perennials - like moist ground. Cut back to ground late winter.
Hibiscus syriacus - Deciduous Shrub hardy to UK climate. Plant in sunny spot.
Hibiscus rosa-sinensis - tender and best grown as a hothouse/green house plant - can grow outside during summer but must be taken in before first frost. Prefer higher temperatures, lots of direct light and much feeding. Prune back in spring.
Tropical species and Hawaiian specie hybrids (H.brackenridgei) not suited for the UK unless you have a tropical hothouse where high temperatures and high humidity can be maintained including very high light levels.
Reply:Is this one of the tender hibiscus from the indoor part of a garden centre? If so they like LOTS of water and feed and sun, they can go outside in the sun from July to whenever it gets cold where you live, then put it somewhere warm and light inside and it will keep flowering until Xmas. In the early spring prune it really hard or else it will get all leggy, then start feeding again it will start flowering in July. If its a hardy hibiscus from the outside part, put it in the garden in the sunniest place you have
