How do you prepare hibiscus for winter? I live in Gatlinburg, Tn.?

Bring them inside and treat them as you would a house plant. They will not survive the winter outside.

if they are hardy hibiscus you dont have to do anything...you can cover with mulch if you want

i live in kentucky about 50 miles south of cincinnati and have several hibiscus outside and i dont do anything to them for the winter weather..they are on the west/northwest side of house plus we live on a hill with very few trees to block wind because most of our trees have only been out less than 2 yrs...

you can use chopped leaves or straw as mulch if you desire....i dont cut mine back until the following spring....this year i had some stalks on mine that were about 3-4 inches thick

find out what variety you have so you will know what to do with them..some are not very winter hardy and others do just fine

i have several varieties that are hardy for zone 6
Reply:bring them inside for winter and give them less water
